The 2020 Forbes Global 2000 includes real estate firms in top 10-position and there are 4 companies from the US in the top 5-position.

Here’s is the list of top 15 companies that made their way into the prestigious list and all these firms belong to real estate except one that deals in communication business.

1. Brookfield Asset Management, Canada

It is an alternate asset management company founded in 1899. It started from Brazil where it provided construction service and management of electricity and transport infrastructure. Today it works in real estate, infrastructure, renewable power and private equity sectors and boasts of global assets to the tune of $196 billion.

2. American Tower Corporation, United States

The company started operations as a unit of American Radio in 1995 and soon became a global player in wireless and broadcast communications business. In 2017, the company got listed in the Fortune 500 list of the Fortune magazine.

3. Simon Property Group, United States

It is a commercial real estate company with several distinctions – biggest retail real estate investment trust and largest shopping mall operator in the US. Founded in 1993, it accrued assets amounting to $31 billion and its market value to around $50 billion in just 25 years.

4. Annaly Capital Management, United States

Launched in 1997, it took only 21 years to become one of the largest mortgage real estate investment trusts in the US. Today its assets stand at $100.38 billion and its market value is $12.07 billion.

5. Prologis, United States

Prologis started its operations in 1983 but the present company was formed in 2011 after its merger with AMB Property Corporation. Both the companies are into multinational real estate business and together they make one of the leading multinational logistics real estate investment trust. It has assets up to $30 billion and its market value is around $35 billion.

6. Link REIT, Hong Kong

Formed in 2004, it is the first real estate investment trust in Hong Kong and now the largest in Asia. It boasts of assets up to $28 billion and its market value is around $19 billion.

7. Weyerhaeuser, United States

Founded in 1900, it owns the largest timberland in the world. It has 12.4 million acres of timberland in the US and 14 million acres in Canada.

8. Gecina, France

Founded in 1959, it is a real estate investment trust focusing on residential properties and offices. Its assets are $24.14 billion and its market value is 12.77 billion.

9. Klepierre, France

It was formed as a real estate investment trust in 1990 and today it is Europe’s second biggest mall operator with 150 shopping centers in 16 countries. The everyday footfall of these malls stand at 1.2 billion.

10. Westfield, Australia

It operated as a shopping center company from its inception in 1960 to division in 2014 when it divided its operations into Scentre Group that works in Australia and New Zealand and Westfield Corporation that works in Europe and the US.

11. Public Storage, United States

It was founded as a self-storage company in 1972 but it also operates as a real estate investment trust. Today is the biggest brand in self-storage business with an asset of $10.69 billion.

12. AvalonBay Communities, United States

AvalonBay was formed in 1978 but the present company came into being in 1998 when it merged its operations with Communities Inc. The new company invests in apartments and it owns assets to the tune of $19 billion.

13. General Growth Properties, United States

It is a real estate investment trusts with the ownership of 120 retail assets that are worth $23.26 billion. Soon Brookfield’s commercial real estate division would acquire the Growth General Properties.

14. Ventas, United States

It’s started operations in 1998 as a real estate investment trust focused on healthcare industry of the US. In 2014, it became A Fortune 1000 corporation. Today it has assets worth $23.49 billion and its market value is 19.07 billion.

15. Boston Properties, United States

Founded in 1970, this real estate investment trust provides a wide range of services including development, redevelopment and management of properties. It specializes in office properties.
